How a Dial Gets Its Story

Every dial begins months before it's a dial at all. It begins as a place: a tram platform, a bookstall, a window during the first rain of the year. We go there, we stay longer than we need to, and we write down what refuses to leave.

Only once we have the feeling on paper do we start translating it into brass and steel. A colour, a texture, a single detail that carries the whole memory in miniature. If the sketch can't survive being reduced to a 36mm circle, it isn't ready.

The last step is always the hardest: taking something that mattered to us, and trusting it will matter to someone who has never been to that platform, that bookstall, that window. So far, it has.
